This week's cross-category briefing

Good morning. Before we get into the numbers, here is the headline: the market is healthy, but the opportunity is not evenly distributed. Across 4,595 tracked listings this week, we saw a 32.3% overall sell rate and an average sold price of £18.81. That top-line figure looks solid, but it masks a significant divergence between categories. Once you understand where the real momentum is sitting, you can make much smarter decisions about where to spend your Saturday morning sourcing time.

Womenswear is the standout category this week. With 3,541 listings and a 36.3% sell rate, it is converting better than the overall average and it is doing so at scale. The sheer volume of womenswear inventory means the absolute number of sales is enormous, with 1,287 confirmed sales tracked. Average sold price sits at £10.47 and average days to sell is 9.4. That slower sell speed compared to other categories is worth noting, but it reflects the nature of the market rather than a weakness. Buyers are browsing, comparing, and then committing. Stock it well, price it right, and it moves.

Menswear tells a different story. With only 575 listings it is a much thinner market, but the quality of demand is exceptional. The 30.6% sell rate is close to the overall average, but the number that jumps out is the average days to sell: 0.6 days. Menswear stock is selling in under 24 hours. Combined with an average sold price of £12.27, slightly higher than womenswear, this category rewards resellers who can move quickly at the sourcing stage. If you find good menswear, list it fast and expect it to go almost immediately.

Designer is a specialist play and the numbers reflect that. A 4.8% sell rate sounds alarming until you look at the average sold price of £519.70. The maths still works if you are sourcing correctly, but the conversion rate is low and the capital tie-up is real. Average days to sell in the designer category is just 1.0 day, which tells you that when designer items do sell, they sell fast. The challenge is finding them at a price point that makes the margin worthwhile. This is not a category to dabble in. It rewards resellers with specific product knowledge and reliable sourcing channels.

One of the most interesting cross-category patterns this week is activewear. Lululemon is posting a 64.3% sell rate in womenswear at £24.56 average, and in menswear, Gymshark is hitting 80.0% at £10.75 and Polo Ralph Lauren is at 87.5% at £17.28. These are very different brands but they are all benefiting from the same underlying trend: buyers are spending on clothing they wear to move in. With summer properly arriving and school sports days, outdoor exercise, and festival season all converging in June and July, activewear and smart casual sportswear are well positioned for the next several weeks. Source both sides of this trend.

Another cross-category signal worth flagging is the speed premium on designer and menswear. Cartier is selling in 0.3 days. Polo Ralph Lauren in menswear is selling in 0.3 days. Stone Island in 0.2 days. Fast-selling items in these categories are not sitting around to be discovered through the algorithm. They are being actively searched by buyers who know what they want. This means your listing quality matters enormously. Good photos and accurate descriptions on these items are not optional extras.

Now for specific sourcing priorities by category.

For womenswear, the clear targets are Lululemon, Never Fully Dressed, Lucy and Yak, and Adanola. Lululemon at 64.3% and Adanola at 87.5% are both reflecting strong summer activewear demand. Never Fully Dressed at 50.0% and £38.00 average is solid for occasion dressing ahead of the summer social season. Hobbs at 42.9% and £71.67 average is the highest-value womenswear brand in the top five and worth prioritising if you are sourcing from charity shops in more affluent areas. Look for Hobbs occasionwear, structured blazers, and linen trousers.

For menswear, go hard on Polo Ralph Lauren. An 87.5% sell rate with 0.3-day average time to sell is about as clear a buy signal as this data produces. Classic polo shirts and Oxford shirts in good condition are what buyers are looking for ahead of summer. Gymshark at 80.0% is also worth stacking if you can find it. Car boot sales and Facebook Marketplace bundles are your best route into menswear activewear at sensible prices.

For designer, approach with discipline. Cartier and Stone Island are the strongest performers by score, but supply is constrained and sourcing is unpredictable. If you have access to estate sales, specialist auctions, or trusted private sellers, focus there. Avoid brands currently showing zero sell rates including Burberry, Bottega Veneta, and Celine until those numbers recover.

To summarise this week's sourcing priorities: womenswear at scale, menswear for speed and margin, and designer only where you have a genuine sourcing edge.

Category of the Week
Womenswear
Strongest performer this week at 33.2% sell rate on new listings

Womenswear is the Category of the Week with a 33.2% sell rate on items listed this week, and it earned that title through consistent performance across a wide range of brands and price points. This is not a category being propped up by one or two outliers. Lululemon, Never Fully Dressed, Lucy and Yak, Hobbs, and Jaded London all posted sell rates above 33%, with Lululemon leading at 64.3%. The depth of that demand is what makes womenswear the safest volume play in the current market.

The brand doing the most interesting work in this category right now is Hobbs. At £71.67 average sold price and a 42.9% sell rate, it is delivering the best revenue per sale of any womenswear brand in the top five. Hobbs buyers on Vinted are specifically looking for tailored occasionwear, quality linen, and smart separates, and the upcoming summer social season including weddings, garden parties, and outdoor events is pulling that demand forward. Source Hobbs linen trousers, wrap dresses, and blazers now. The 13.4-day average time to sell is longer than activewear, but the margin justifies the patience.

Adanola is worth calling out separately as a hidden gem with a striking 87.5% sell rate across 8 tracked listings at £12.57 average. This is a brand with a young, fashion-conscious audience and strong brand loyalty. Buyers who want Adanola are searching for it by name. It shows up reliably at charity shops in city centres and occasionally in Facebook Marketplace clothing bundles. If you find it, list it. It will not sit.

The Avoid List
Bottom 10 brands across all categories

1.
Bottega Veneta Designer
Zero sales recorded this week across tracked listings, suggesting buyers are either not searching on Vinted or the price expectations between buyers and sellers are too far apart to generate conversions.

2.
Burberry Designer
Burberry is posting a 0.0% sell rate this week, which is a significant concern given the volume of listings in this brand, as authenticity concerns and high buyer expectations are likely suppressing conversions.
0.0%sell rate £643.33avg price
3.
CELINE Designer
Zero sell rate this week, and with the brand's recent repositioning under a new creative direction, buyer confidence in pre-owned pieces appears low on the Vinted platform specifically.
0.0%sell rate £500.29avg price
4.
Carhartt Menswear
Carhartt workwear posted a 0.0% sell rate this week, likely reflecting that the market has cooled on this brand after a period of peak hype and supply has now outpaced buyer demand.
0.0%sell rate £23.7avg price
5.
Chloé Designer
Zero conversions tracked this week despite a premium price point, making this a high-capital, zero-return risk that is not worth taking until sell rate data recovers.
0.0%sell rate £630.43avg price
6.
Christian Louboutin Designer
Gucci is only converting at 6.0% this week with an average sold price of £625.00, meaning the vast majority of listings are sitting unsold and tying up significant capital for sellers.
0.0%sell rate £629.73avg price
7.
Dolce & Gabbana Designer
A 3.8% sell rate is the weakest conversion among actively selling designer brands this week, and while the £975.00 average is compelling, the probability of a sale is too low to recommend sourcing speculatively.
0.0%sell rate £562.82avg price
8.
Fendi Designer
Balenciaga is converting at only 5.9% this week, and the brand's ongoing reputation challenges are making buyers cautious about both authenticity and resale value on secondary platforms.
0.0%sell rate £1052.5avg price
9.
Givenchy Designer
A 5.6% sell rate despite a £520.40 average sold price means the overwhelming majority of Louis Vuitton listings on Vinted are not converting, making this a poor risk-adjusted sourcing target without verified provenance.
0.0%sell rate £661.0avg price
10.
Levi's Menswear
At 5.9% sell rate and £500.00 average, YSL carries the same capital risk as other low-converting designer brands, and without a guaranteed sourcing price well below market value, the margin risk is too high.

The trajectory: Menswear is punching well above its weight in terms of sell speed, with stock clearing in under 24 hours across the strongest brands, while womenswear is delivering the best combination of volume and consistent conversion at scale. Designer remains a high-reward but low-probability category that rewards specialist knowledge rather than broad sourcing. The clearest cross-category trend is the strength of activewear and smart casual sportswear, which is outperforming in both womenswear and menswear as summer demand builds.
